Why wasn't my garbage picked up?

The Public Works Department picks up household waste from residential customers on Monday and Thursday on the west and north side of the river, and Tuesday and Friday in the balance of the City. (See Map) Waste needs to be bagged and tied in black City issued TRF marked bags, or the new green bags.

The Public Works Department asks residents to put their garbage out by 7:00 a.m. to ensure it is not missed. If your garbage is not put out in the morning and is missed, the crew will not return to your location.

If your garbage is bagged in non-TRF marked bags, one orange sticker is needed for every 4 bags.

If your garbage does not get picked up, a lime green sticker may be applied to you garbage by the sanitation crew letting you know WHY it was not picked up.

In winter months, please put your garbage bags as close to the alley or street as possible so the crew does not have to walk into snowbanks/your yard to retrieve the bags.

Appliances are picked up on Wednesdays. An orange sticker must be attached to each appliance. Put your appliance out during your normal garbage pick up day, and your address will be written down. The truck will then return on Wednesday to pick it up. Freon from appliances is recovered by the City, so please don’t tamper with the compressor lines.

Each large item that is not in a City TRF bag needs a sticker applied. Most large items (not appliances) are picked up during your normal garbage pick up day.
