number that provides IMMEDIATE access to LAW
ENFORCEMENT, FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE. 9-1-1
is a free call from any payphone.
When to use 9-1-1
Call 9-1-1 to report a
crime, fire, heart attack, or other serious medical
condition or injury, or any situation requiring the
IMMEDIATE response of a FIRE TRUCK, AMBULANCE or LAW
ENFORCEMENT.
